Bronze AKC GCH, UKC/CKC CH Ashbrooke Quantrels Tom Sawyer Islnd, RLP, RL3, RLV, RE, RO3, JH, NSD, RD, SR, BN, CD, GN, CD-CCH, CDX-C, NW2, NN, AN, SC, SE, SI, SWA, CGCA, THDX, VX, NA, NAJ, NAC, RATI, RATN, NTD, TKA – Sawyer is my rock star. As you can see from the long list of titles, there is nothing this dog can’t do! Sawyer is the puppy we kept from our first litter. He was the pick of the litter and we had all intentions of placing him in a show home. However, when someone showed interest in him as a pet only, in the pit of my stomach I knew I couldn’t let him go. Thank goodness I listened to my gut. He was an attentive and bright puppy and has matured into a fabulous adult dog. He is my constant companion, has achieved so much and is still going. I know we’ll continue adding letters onto that name for awhile.

The last UKC Nosework trial of the year was super busy for me as the trial secretary and running 3 dogs. Sawyer had an excellent day. He completed his Superior Interior (SI) title with a 4th place. He also qualified in Master Containers, finishing in 33.93 seconds for 1st place and High in Trial and Master Interiors, finishing in 1:28.06 for another 1st place and High in Trial.

It took awhile to find a trial but Sawyer finally finished is overall AKC Scent Work Advanced (SWA) title by completing is Scent Work Exterior Advanced (SEA) title. It was a tough search in an open field but he succeeded.

Sawyer earned his Superior Exterior (SE) UKC Nosework title in style. A first place finish with High in Trial. Superior searches are a large area outside with 2 hides and a distractor and he did that in 28:91 seconds!

Two long days of trials resulted in several qualifying runs but just one new title, Scent Work Interior Advanced (SIA)

Two qualifying runs in Superior Containers earned Sawyer another new UKC Nosework title, SC. He came in 1st place in the second run earning him High in Trial!

Two new UKC Nosework titles for Sawyer. He earned the final Advanced element title, Advanced Interior (AI), with a 4th place finish in 14.12 seconds. This gave him the overall Advanced Nosework (AN) title.

This was a very emotional day as we celebrated Sawyer’s 200th pet therapy visit at the same school where we did our first visit. The students and teachers surprised us with a celebration in the gym including a big banner and card signed by all. I’m so proud of Sawyer! This visit earned him his AKC Therapy Dog Excellent (THDX) title, and I agree he is truly and excellent dog!

Sawyer earned two new titles at today’s AKC Scent Work trial. He got the last leg to give him the Scent Work Exterior Novice (SEN) title, which was also the last element needed for his overall Scent Work Novice (SWN) title. He also earned the Scent Work Buried Advanced (SBA) title with 3rd place finish (18.66 seconds).

Another long weekend of AKC Scent Work trials. Sawyer had many passes but earned one new title: Scent Work Containers Advanced (SCA) with a 4th place finish.
May 19-20, 2018
More Nosework titles for Sawyer this weekend: On Saturday he earned the UKC Advanced Containers (AC) title; both passes with 2nd places. On Sunday he earned the UKC Advanced Vehicle (AV) title in the first trial with a 3rd place finish and moved up to Superior Vehicles where he got his first pass with a 1st place finish and High in Trial!

Sawyer earned his AKC Scent Work Buried Novice (SBN) title, qualifying in 3 straight runs. This was a new element for Sawyer and in our practice he was false alerting so I made him search all the boxes before I called ‘alert’.

Sawyer earned his 2nd AKC Scent Work title – Interior Novice (SIN). I should have called ‘alert’ the first time he looked at me but with AKC he has to alert within 6 inches of the hide and I just wanted to make sure he was right on it.

During the very first AKC Scent Work trials in NJ, Sawyer earned the Scent Work Container Novice (SCN) title. He had amazing container search times of 11.44 seconds, 6.44 seconds (first place), and 3.41 seconds (2nd place)!!

Sawyer earned the last individual element title; Novice Interior, which earned him the UKC Novice Nosework (NN) title.

The AKC began offering Trick Dog titles so we quickly met the requirements for all 3 levels:
Novice (TKN), Intermediate (TKI) and Advanced (TKA).

Sawyer earned his Started Retriever (SR) title which requires 4 passes of both land and water retrieves.
